CBD Vs THC – Know The Difference

Cannabis is a plant that gives a variety of compounds that humans have used over millennia for a number of reasons. From tetrahydrocannabinol to tetrahydrocannabivarin to cannabidiol, the plant is reputed with the synthesis of psychoactive compounds more than the non psychoactive and harmless ones. The chemicals are similar only with respect to their source, and the fact that both alleviate pain. There are a multitude of differences between the two that draws a clear line between which one is safe for use (for people who do not want to indulge in consuming psychoactive substances) and which ones are not.

1 – Psychoactivity

Unlike THC which is psychoactive (that is, it gives a mental high and rush on being used), CBD is a non psychoactive compound which relieves one of pain, according to multiple clinical studies. This means that it does not inhibit mental faculties of the user and is a completely safe compound to use, provided it is not taken in doses that are more than advised (which goes for any kind of drug or medicinal compound, to be very frank).

2 – Health Problems In The Long Run

It is no surprise that prolonged use of THC will lead to uninvited health problems including depression, anxiety, insomnia and so on, to name a few. None of these problems are even remotely observed when CBD is used. (Exceptions may be there if the user is allergic to the compound and thus may end up experiencing adverse effects on usage)

3 – Health Benefits

THC, being the trouble creator that it is, does not come with any health benefits, but instead comes with a factor of harmfulness. CBD on the other hand, is proven to have clinical benefits including the betterment of the symptoms of various conditions like diabetes, cancer, depression, etc., apart from being non psychoactive and therapeutic by nature. Some of the best CBD vape oil cartridges are also employed for the treatment of various ailments that a person may have.

4 – Depression

The prolonged usage of THC in the form of weed that teenagers are often introduced to by their peers, studies suggest, lead to depression. This kind of abuse may also lead to decreased academic aptitude, drastic behavioural changes and unexplained mood swings to name a few. On the contrary, just as mentioned in the beginning of the article, CBD (that is used in many forms) has effects opposite to that of THC, and is being tested for the treatment of clinical depression, instead.
