Dog – Life, Health Issues And Remedies

Dogs have a life span of about 10 to 13 years. Living a dog’s life isn’t easy. There is a proverb which says- It’s a dog’s life which actually means a miserable and unhappy existence.

Just like humans and others, dogs too suffer from a variety of health problems which could range from the intestinal problems to ear, nose, throat, eyes, skin, or digestive and dental problems too. Dogs normally show signs of irritation by growling, reluctance to eat or walk or even play. They may just be quiet or less active or even just keep lying down being a bit indifferent to noise or people due to ill health.

No two dogs are alike when it comes to their health. Each breed is unique and hence its health is to be dealt with as per each case. Hygiene in dogs is very important. Giving it a daily bath and grooming it well can prevent diseases related to skin. Keeping the home clean when you have pets around is also important. It important to gently brush the dog’s coat every 2 days to prevent knotting, Nails must be trimmed and cleaned often, The dog’s ears should be cleaned with moist cotton, its teeth also need to be swiped as often as possible to prevent dental problems. Tapeworms are common in dogs which mainly come due to ingesting any flea or feces of other animals. Prevention of this can be by having good flea control. Just like humans dogs too suffer from intestinal worms. This can be treated by giving it an over the counter de-worming.

Intestinal problems in dogs can be made out by their symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea or dehydration. Similarly, skin allergies can be prevented by giving the dog a good shampooing regularly. Dental diseases are common in adult dogs above the age of 3 or 4 which if untreated can lead to tartar formation, inflammation in gums. It is good to add fresh dental care solution to the dog’s drinking water to help better oral health.

Parvovirus is one of the most dangerous diseases a dog can get and it could be life-threatening. It is highly contagious too. Loss of appetite, vomiting or bloody diarrhea is its symptoms. Taking the dogs to the vet is very important when the dog is unwell. It is a life without the blessing of being able to speak. But the caretaker of the dog must understand the need of the dog and a timely action taking the dog to the vet will definitely help to ease the condition of the dog.A good health care of the dogs can at times also increase its life span.!!
