Want To Change Your Address For Medicare? Read This
This might sound like a very simple thing to do but if you are not careful, then it will end up causing you problems. If you have moved in the recent past and want that to be reflected on your Medicare, you have come to the right place. You must keep in mind that this changing has to be done within 2-3 weeks. This might sound like it is a long time but when you are settling into a new place, there is a possibility that you lose track of time. But the good news is that changing the address is an easy task that shouldn’t take up much of your time. It is better to get regardless of which plan you have from Medicare. It can be Medicare Plan G or Plan B but without the right address, it will not be possible for you to get the benefits. There is also the possibility that you end up forgetting to change this. So, we thought it would be helpful to show you how this can be done.
Social Security
If you have qualified for Medicare using your social security, then you can change the address from that site itself. By some chance, if you do not have an account, now would be a good time to get started. After you have logged in, go to your profile section and there you will find a tab that says update contact information. From there, it is pretty simple to get the address changed. Even if you don’t have Medicare, if you know someone who does, you can help them out.
In-Person
If you are not able to get this done online, there is another way of going about this. All you have to do is find where the social security office in your locality is. From here on, the process is very easy, and you need to go there and tell them about your situation. The one document you will need is the address proof something that shows where you live. This could be a phone bill etc. Once you have done filling out their paperwork, everything will be taken care of.
All in all, this is a small detail in the grand scheme of Medicare, but it is one that needs to be looked at. And given how easy doing this is, there is no excuse for you to not get the necessary changes done. j
